KENT COUNTY, MI – Sheriff’s deputies identified John Frueh Sr., 91, as the victim of a fire at his Alpine Township house.
A passerby called 911 just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, to report the house fire at 3505 Four Mile Road NW, just east of Fruit Ridge Avenue.
The house was engulfed in flames when sheriff’s deputies and Alpine Township firefighters reached the scene.
Frueh was alone in the house.
Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death but said preliminary autopsy findings showed no suspicious signs. Frueh died of injuries sustained in the fire.
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by the Plainfield Township fire investigator with assistance of state police.
Alpine Township firefighters were assisted at the scene by four other departments.
