This morning, the battle over who controls D.C. is heading to the House Oversight Committee. Republicans in Congress are moving ahead with 14 bills designed to pull power from the city’s elected leaders and hand it to President Trump. The package, driven by Oversight Chairman James Comer, would let Trump—not D.C. voters—choose the city’s attorney general, expand mandatory minimums, lower the age minors can be tried as adults, and loosen police chase restrictions.
