Mazda is recalling 14,350 SUVs in Canada due to a potential fuel gauge malfunction that poses a crash risk. The recall affects the 2025 Mazda CX-70 and both the 2024 and 2025 Mazda CX-90 models. The issue was highlighted in a notice from Transport Canada.

The recall notice states that the fuel gauge may display an incorrect fuel level on the instrument panel. This could lead drivers to be unaware of the actual fuel amount in the tank, increasing the risk of running out of fuel and stalling the vehicle. A sudden loss of engine power could heighten the chances of a crash, according to Transport Canada.

Mazda plans to notify affected vehicle owners by mail. The company will instruct them to visit a dealership to update the body control module software, which is necessary to correct the fuel gauge issue. In the meantime, Mazda advises drivers to refuel their vehicles before the fuel gauge indicates a quarter tank.

Owners seeking more information can contact Mazda at 1-800-263-4680. They can also check if their vehicle is part of the recall by entering their vehicle identification number (VIN) on Mazda’s recall information center.
