ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Two parents accused allowing their children to get bitten by field rats appeared back in court to ask for their bond to be changed.
Akayla and Justin Bearden are both facing charges of unlawful conduct toward a child after deputies said they six-month-old daughter was rushed to the hospital after she was bitten by field rats in May.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said the baby had bite marks all over her arms, head and ears. The baby’s twin brother also had bite marks. All three of the Beardens’ children are now in DSS custody.
According to officials, the parents admitted they had a rat problem in their Belton home but still allowed the kids to live there.
Both parents were granted bond by a judge on May 13 and banned from having contact w
