Drivers could risk a major fine if their licence goes out of date

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is urging motorists to keep an eye on when their licence is set to expire. The DVLA routinely sends out reminders to drivers whose licences are due for renewal, as all photocard driving licences must be renewed every 10 years or they become invalid.

This rule applies not only to full driving licences but also to provisional ones across England, Scotland, and Wales. While the majority of people can renew their licence online for a mere £14, some may not qualify for this service.

Those residing in Northern Ireland, for instance, must use a different service to renew their licence, as do those who have been disqualified from driving. Different rules apply for those over 70
