CANTON ‒ A 33-year-old Marlboro Township man has been sentenced to four to six years in prison for breaking into a home near an Alliance park and stabbing a woman with scissors.

Stark County Common Pleas Judge Taryn L. Heath sentenced Jimmy R. Stafford on Sept. 9 for aggravated burglary, felonious assault, breaking-and-entering and domestic violence. The burglary and assault charges carried specifications that the defendant is a repeat violent offender.

Heath found him guilty in a July 31 bench trial after Stafford waived his right to a jury trial.

She found him not guilty of attempted murder and felonious assault, charges filed as part of an October indictment. Both charges carried repeat violent offender specifications.
