WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - What started as neighborhood frustration over a dirt road in Williston turned into viral fame with millions of views online.

It’s called the Road of Shame, a section-line road in Williston known for trapping 4-wheel trucks, cars and delivery box trucks and vans.

Davis has had a front-row seat for the last three years, right from his own backyard.

“I’ve watched 300 vehicles get stuck in the three years I’ve lived here,” said Davis.

What made this road famous wasn’t just the ruts and mud, but the worldwide attention it gained online. Even Google Maps now labels it the Road of Shame.

“It’s world-renowned now. People from New Zealand, Australia, Wales, they all love the Road of Shame,” said Davis
