A northwest London home that was struck by 33 gunshots last month was mistakenly targeted in an “outrageous act,” the city’s police chief says.

London police held a press conference Wednesday to address a recent surge in shootings, including a case on Aug. 18 when a gunman fired 33 rounds at a house on Foxridge Crescent, northeast of Fanshawe Park and Hyde Park roads, and a vehicle parked in the driveway.

“Inside that home was a family, a family that based on our investigation has absolutely nothing to do with this crime,” Chief Thai Truong said. “We believe they were the wrong target. Thankfully, no one was physically injured, but this was an outrageous act that could have claimed the lives of innocent people.”
