It was hard to know just what to expect from New York Yankees fans when Gleyber Torres returned to the Bronx on Tuesday.
Torres, who played his first 1,017 big-league games in pinstripes before signing with the Detroit Tigers this offseason, had some great seasons in New York and some not-so-great ones. He was a two-time All-Star who once hit 38 home runs in a season, but was often called into question for his sloppy play and drifting focus.
Batting second for the Tigers against starter Will Warren, Torres put up a 1-for-3 effort with a double, two walks, a run scored and an RBI, helping the Tigers to a 12-2 drubbing of the Bronx Bombers in the series opener.
For the most part, Torres got a warm reception from Yankees fans throughout the night, and according to Yankees manager Aaron Boo
