Then-President Joe Biden’s staff, apparently concerned that Vice President Kamala Harris was upstaging him, warned Harris after she delivered a “viral” speech in Alabama, the former vice president claims in her new book.

“When polls indicated that I was getting more popular, the people around him didn’t like the contrast that was emerging,” Harris wrote in her book “107 Days,” according to an excerpt obtained by The Atlantic.

Harris said she gave a “strong speech” in Selma last year while commemorating Bloody Sunday, condemning the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling on Israel to increase aid while also reiterating her support for the Jewish state.
