PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia restaurateur is about to open a brand new spot, one day after receiving two major culinary accolades.

Food and Wine Magazine named Phila Lorn, of Mawn Restaurant on 9th Street in South Philadelphia, one of its Top 10 best new chefs.

Mawn was also named one of the New York Times' "50 best in America."

The noodle house is steeped in Lorn's Cambodian background.

Lorn also brought home Philly's sole James Beard Award in June, winning the award for Emerging Chef.

Lorn and his wife, Rachel, will open a second restaurant called Sao, on Passyunk Avenue, on Wednesday.

Mawn was second of two local eateries that made that Times' list of the 50 best in the country.

Meetinghouse in Kensington also earned a spot.
