SALT LAKE CITY — Northbound I-15 has reopened after a fatal crash during rush hour Wednesday morning shut down the freeway for about an hour.
The crash occurred on I-15 near North Temple at about 7:45 a.m. The freeway was closed at 400 South, forcing all vehicles to exit at 600 South. The transition ramp from eastbound I-80 to go north on I-15 was also closed for a time.
Just before 9 a.m., police opened the left three lanes to traffic. By 11:15 a.m., all lanes had reopened.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden confirmed two cars were involved in the crash: a black pickup truck and a red Jeep. The driver of the Jeep died, but police have not released more information.
