BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - During their weekly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 10, the East Baton Rouge Metro councilmembers plan to introduce a pay raise that will affect city court judges.

The move comes after the state legislature approved salary increases this year for judges across the state. Due a city-parish ordinance, city court judges are required to be paid the same as district court judges.

If the proposal is approved, it would increase the salary of judges by around $10,000 each year. In total, judges would be paid around $160,000 a year.
