MUSKEGON, Mich. — Workers at a frozen bread production facility were notified that Wednesday is their last day, the City of Muskegon said.

Cole's Quality Foods is stopping operations at its facility at 1188 Lakeshore Drive, effective Wednesday. Office staff are expected to remain on the job for several more weeks to wrap up administrative work.

The official closure date is listed as Nov. 9, 2025, and a total of 171 workers are impacted, according to the WARN notice.

Based in Grand Rapids, Cole's Quality Foods has two production facilities. One in Muskegon and another in North Liberty, Iowa.

The neighborhood bakery began in Muskegon in 1943 and eventually grew to a national brand providing frozen bread items and employing hundreds.
