The home of former Saskatchewan Premier Lorne Calvert was completely destroyed in a fire on Tuesday.

According to Bethune Emergency Services, firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the fire at Buffalo Pound Lake at around 3:30 p.m.

No further details were shared by the fire department, but the home was left in a charred ruin by the blaze.

Crews returned to the scene to douse hot spots on Wednesday morning. They were joined by Calvert, who thanked them for their efforts.
