A man who authorities say was armed with a knife was fatally shot by deputies during a confrontation in Hartland, Maine, early Wednesday morning, according to NBC affiliate News Center Maine.

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office said two deputies have been placed on administrative leave as authorities investigate what happened.

The situation started around 5:30 a.m., when the deputies announced their presence to execute a search warrant on Main Street, according to police. When they went inside the home, they found Isaac Robinson in a bedroom.
