ATLANTA — As football season returns, Andrè Lowe thinks about his time between the lines as a referee.
Now retired, he shared his passion for the game and his perspective on politics with The Georgia Vote in this week's Voice of the Voter.

He spent decades on the football field officiating high school and college games, helping generations of athletes enjoy the sport he grew up playing.
At times, that meant making the tough calls.
"It's just something that's within you," he said. "You know going in that whatever call you make, half of them are going to be happy, half of them are going to be upset."
Taking the heat, though, brought its own rewards. His role as a referee kept him close to the game he loves.
"I wish I was back on the field," said Lowe.
