Patriot Day will be marked in Bushland this week with live music, food, and remembrance as a local nonprofit hosts its annual community fundraiser to honor veterans and first responders.
Brothers-Sisters of Our Military Adventures, known as BOOM Adventures, will hold the celebration Friday, Sept. 12, at the Piehl Barn. The evening will include performances, food trucks, and fireworks, with proceeds funding outdoor trips and programs for service members, military families, and first responders.
Patriot Day was established in 2001 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance for those killed in the Sept. 11 attacks. BOOM Adventures director Blake Siebrecht said the event is about carrying that message forward.
“On Sept. 12, people came together in a way we had never seen before,” Siebrech
