A hand soap recall initiated by a skincare company in August over potential bacterial contamination has expanded to more than 30 products, including lotions and shampoo.
DermaRite Industries, based in North Bergen, New Jersey, is voluntarily recalling more than 30 products "out of an abundance of caution" over potential microbial contamination identified as Burkholderia cepacia complex, according to a recent news release.
B. cepacia may result in serious and life-threatening infections, especially if used by immunosuppressed individuals or by people attending to immunosuppressed individuals, the company said, adding "the infection could spread into the blood stream, potentially leading to life-threatening sepsis."
