Following the news that right-wing activist, Turning Point USA founder, and Donald Trump ally Charlie Kirk had been shot in the neck during an event at Utah Valley University, politicians from all over the spectrum expressed horror and offered well-wishes on social media.
"Praying for Charlie. Just horrific," wrote Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX).
"I condemn this in the strongest terms," wrote Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA). "There is ZERO place in our great country for these horrendous acts of political violence. We must find a better way forward. May Charlie Kirk have a full and quick recovery."
"Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father," wrote Vice President J.D. Vance.
"The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible," wrote Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA). "In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form."
"I am tracking the situation at Utah Valley University closely," wrote Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT). "Please join me in praying for Charlie Kirk and the students gathered there."
"Horrific news," wrote Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ). "Let’s hope he is well and keep him and his families in your prayers."
"I’m absolutely disgusted by today’s attack on Charlie Kirk," wrote Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. "Political violence in all forms is unacceptable and reprehensible. We must all reject it."
