ORIGINAL STORY: After conservative influencer Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck during an event in Utah on Wednesday, Sept. 10, elected officials throughout New York state shared their concern on social media.

At Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, livestream video of the event showed crowds of people running from the university’s courtyard where Kirk, 31, was speaking. The university confirmed the shooting and said a suspect had been taken into custody as of 1:15 MT, USA TODAY reported.
