Colorado State trooper Luke Zellman, 42, was arrested on a charge of sexual exploitation of a child Wednesday by Colorado Springs police, according to a news release from the department.

In February, the Colorado Springs Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children unit received information from the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children about someone downloading child sexual abuse material.

The release on Wednesday stated that police discovered through the investigation that this individual was a Colorado Springs resident and a Colorado State Patrol trooper.

Zellman, who has been placed on administrative leave, has been with Colorado State Patrol since 2014 and was transferred to the Colorado Springs Troop Office in September 2017, according to a news release from
