NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WFSB) - Several cities and towns in the Naugatuck Valley are working to improve drainage infrastructure to prevent flooding.
The area dealt with devastating flooding last August.
This week, public meetings are taking place to let the community know more about these projects.
Work on the designs for these projects started in 2022.
Last year’s historic flooding through the Naugatuck Valley raised the urgency level to address these flood prone areas.
The Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments is heading the series of projects across nine different communities.
They are looking to improve culverts and other drainage systems that are frequently overwhelmed.
