Fall hasn’t officially started yet in New York. But our trees have already begun their stunning autumnal glow-up.

From the High Peaks of the Adirondacks to the northern Catskills , leaves are starting to change in Upstate New York. And to mark that exciting milestone, I LOVE NY has released its first foliage report of 2025 .

The fan-favorite report, compiled by the state tourism bureau with the help of more than 90 volunteer field observers, helps fall fanatics determine where to spot the most brilliant colors during leaf-peeping season.

So where can leaf peepers go to get an early look at red, yellow and orange leaves?

For now, the best fall colors can be found in the mountains, according to I LOVE NY.
