DENVER (KDVR) – Three students are critically injured after a shooting at a high school in the Denver metro area on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities in Jefferson County.

A spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office initially said in a post on X that "at least" two students at Evergreen High School, in Evergreen, Colorado, had been shot and taken to the hospital. A representative for the nearby CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital told Nexstar's KDVR that there were three total patients, all minors in critical condition.

One of those injured was the suspected shooter, sheriff's office said. A spokesperson said they didn't believe law enforcement had fired any rounds.
