President Donald Trump ordered all U.S. flags to be flown at half-mast in honor of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University.

“In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Trump previously confirmed reports that Kirk had died, and highlighted how “no one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.”

Deseret News reported that “reporters on the scene” said Kirk was “shot during a Q&A with students,” and that he “appeared to be hit in the neck.”
