A parolee accused of forcing his way into a UC Riverside student’s apartment after she opened the door during a fire alarm and attempting to sexually assault her must stand trial for assault with intent to commit rape and other charges, a judge ruled Wednesday.
Julian Jesus Madrigal, 32, a Riverside-area transient, was arrested in January following a joint investigation by the Riverside and UCR police departments.
At the end of a preliminary hearing Wednesday, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Patricia Titus found there was sufficient evidence to bound Madrigal over for trial on the assault with intent count, as well as false imprisonment, assault resulting in great bodily injury, sexual battery and presenting false identification to a peace officer.
