One of the most powerful voices on the American political scene was silenced on Wednesday when an assassin’s bullet struck Charlie Kirk in the neck and killed him. Kirk was the man behind Turning Point USA, an organization that promotes conservative ideas to young people and is active on more than 3,500 college and high school campuses.

Kirk was shot and killed while speaking to students at the Utah Valley University in Orem.

Despite claims by opponents that he was controversial or bombastic, Kirk was an optimist who engaged with the other side. He encouraged people to “Prove Me Wrong!” when they questioned and debated him at these campus events.
