BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - September is Suicide Prevention Month, and Blue Cross Blue Shield North Dakota is doing everything it can to raise awareness in a state that lacks mental health providers.
The organization partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and state baseball teams, such as the Bismarck Larks, to raise awareness and funds. They call the campaign “Strike Out the Stigma.” So far, there have been 390 events and 1,000 people reached.
“We do this because it’s a great way to normalize the conversation around mental health. Mental health is crucial to people’s well-being, yet so few people are able to seek help or talk openly about it. So this is just a way to let people know that it’s ok to not be ok and there are resources and support out there,” said Amber B
