SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — The Spokane County Republican Party released a statement Wednesday afternoon about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Charlie Kirk was assassinated during a campus event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday afternoon. He was 31.
KREM 2 spoke with Spokane County Republican Party Chair Rob Linebarger over the phone, and he says he is deeply saddened by the news.
"The reason they took him out was because he was effective and he gave them hope and faith on the future of this country," said Linebarger. "This stuff has to stop. We have to be able to have conversations in the country and talk about things without either retribution, retaliation, or violence."
