A vaccine to protect koalas from chlamydia has been approved for usage in Australia.

The single-dose vaccine was developed over 10 years by a team at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) in Queensland led by Professor of Microbiology Peter Timms , the university said in a statement on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The vaccine has been approved for production and use by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority, UniSC said.
