BEREA, Ohio -- Berea officials are moving ahead with legislation that would create a permitting process for short-term rentals.
This is in response to concerns from residents about neighborhood stability and quality of life.
Mayor Cyril Kleem said the city has seen a noticeable increase in short-term rentals, a trend he expects to continue.
“We went through a similar situation years ago when we noticed an increase in long-term rentals.
“At this time, we are noticing an increase in short-term rentals, and believe that will continue to grow,” Kleem said.
“As new uses are introduced into neighborhoods, we want to make sure laws are in place that make those uses more compatible with the residential character of the area.”
Councilwoman Erika Coble said the push for new regulations began w
