When researching family history, we often hear about DNA tests. For a fee, several companies perform tests that compare the DNA of one person with the DNA of millions of other people.
What is DNA? It is a molecule found in chromosomes in the nucleus of human cells. Usually, each cell of a person contains one pair of sex chromosomes that affect the sex of a person and 22 pairs that affect other aspects of a person. The other chromosomes are called autosomes. Normally, people inherit 12 autosomes from each parent and one sex chromosome from each parent. ×
