LONGVIEW, Texas — The suspect in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl and her father at a Liberty City park has been charged with murder.

Christopher Wayne Hicks Jr., 18, faces two murder charges in connection with the Sept. 1 deaths of 16-year-old Hailey Blake and her father, 49-year-old Shawn Blake, at Hugh Camp Memorial Park in Liberty City. Authorities have said Hicks was Hailey’s boyfriend.

After the shooting incident, Hicks was taken to a hospital with what were believed to be self-inflicted, life-threatening injuries.
