RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — As Randolph County grieves the death of 7-year-old Liam King, chaplains, advocates and community members are stepping in to provide support.
On Wednesday, a group of chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team traveled from Charlotte to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Rapid Response Team Coordinator Manny Castro said their role is to help first responders cope.
“First responders endure a lot of emotional stress in their jobs from day to day, but when something like this, this terrible tragedy happens, it's compounded,” Castro said. “Sometimes they just need someone to talk to, sometimes they need prayer, sometimes they need words of encouragement, and that is what we are here to do.”
Castro said his team will stay in Randolph County as long as they
