KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Crossville city leaders voted to move forward with a plan to have Crossville Fire take over EMS service in the city.
Crossville Mayor Pro-Tem Art Gernt said Tuesday, “I think fire-based EMS’s are an excellent way to provide service.”
While some city leaders like the measure, some living in Crossville feel it’s not worth it if it means higher property taxes.
“I would ask you be good stewards of our tax money and explore any other options, I’m assuming, to achieve a faster turnaround,” a Crossville resident said.
City councilmember Dr. Mark Fox brought this forward and voted for the measure. Crossville Mayor RJ Crawford voted against it.
“They know it’s going to be a heavy property tax increase or a decrease in our budget,” Mayor Crawford said.
