SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Wednesday night leaders in Saratoga County held a public hearing for the purpose of establishing a countywide animal abuse registry. Officials are pushing for more protection of people’s furry family members across the state. Local leaders explained what’s next when it comes to legislation for animal boarding facilities in their town.

Lynn Meager, the Animal Control Officer for Mechanicville said, “The fact of the matter that we all know is that everything has gotten totally out of control. It's got to stop. It's got to come to an end. The registry is a way to go.”

Darlene McGraw who supports the animal abuse registry exclaimed, “An animal can’t always speak up in the same way as humans are able to. So please make this registry a thing. We really need it
