MANCHESTER, N.H. —

The city of Laconia has passed an ordinance allowing people to raise chickens in their backyards.

Residents may keep up to five chickens on properties of at least a quarter-acre.

Roosters are not allowed, and eggs cannot be sold.

All chickens must be kept in a coop at night.
