President Trump announced Wednesday that prominent conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 31, died after being shot in Utah at the first stop of his American Comeback Tour on college campuses.
Kirk, a married father of two and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck while seated on a stool behind his “prove me wrong” table as he answered questions from a person in the audience about mass shootings.
Video of the shooting posted on social media showed blood pouring from Kirk’s neck after the sound of a gunshot at 2:20 p.m. EST, twenty minutes into his presentation. Kirk then slumped back in his chair amid screams from the crowd.
He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Trump announced his death about two hours after the gunshot erupted.
