HANCOCK — The Jeffers Jets boys cross country team did again. For the third week in a row, they won their local meet. This time it was the Bulldog Invitational on Tuesday.
They came in first with a score of 39; beating Houghton by just four points. Westwood rounded out the podium with a third-place finish at 62.
According to Jeffers coach Sam Kilpela, it was his middle runners that came through for him on Tuesday. The Jets took the top two spots by way of Cam Anderson (16:57) and Landon Larson (17:38). Ben Hemmer was Houghton’s top finisher at 18:01 in the third spot.
“For Cam (Anderson) to break 17 (minutes) on this course is phenomenal,” Kilpela stated. “Then for Landon (Larson) to follow was great. They know this course as seniors and are showing some real leadership.”
