State Rep. Rick Taggart, community leaders, parents and farmers came together at Rocky Mountain Elementary School Park on Wednesday morning to vouch for two school meal items that will be on voters’ ballots this November.

Multiple speakers vouched for Propositions LL and MM, which, if approved by voters, would tie together to extend the state’s Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA) program.

HSMA BACKGROUND

In 2022, Colorado voters approved Proposition FF to create the HSMA program within the Colorado Department of Education. The program reimburses participating school meal providers for offering free breakfast and lunch to all K-12 public school students, regardless of their families’ income or the schools’ status.
