WILLIAMSPORT — A federal judge has been asked to give preliminary approval of the $5 million settlement in the federal lawsuit arising from a 2023 data breach that impacted more than 1.2 million Geisinger patients.
U.S. Middle District Judge Matthew W. Brann on Wednesday also was asked to certify the case as a class action and approve the form notifying class members of the settlement.
The parties in July notified the court that a settlement had been reached, but the terms had not been finalized.
