Authorities are raising safety concerns about the growing number of businesses setting up and making sales on Palma Sola Causeway , and they are asking the City of Bradenton and Manatee County to bring order to the popular recreation area .

During a public meeting last week, Holmes Beach Police Chief William Tokajer told a group of Manatee County and City of Holmes Beach commissioners that businesses accepting payment and using signs to advertise on the causeway are violating state laws and are collectively becoming a public nuisance.
