WEST LAFAYETTE — Purdue football's first two games reinforced expectations as to which Boilermakers would contribute the most.

Saturday's game against USC provides a new and heightened set of data. At positions such as safety and the interior offensive line, the distinction between starter and sub seems especially thin. Some of the first 22 will confront the Big Ten starter's standard for the first time this week.
