CARNEY — Carney-Nadeau was in control throughout as it defeated Stephenson in straight sets, (25-17, 25-12, 25-15) in a Skyline Central Conference matchup here Tuesday.

The Wolves jumped out to an early 6-1 lead on a pair of aces by junior Paige Jardeen. The Eagles tied the game on an ace by senior Olivia Cappaert and then took the lead during a five-point serving run at 7-6.

The Wolves recaptured the lead at 10-9 and were up 12-10 when Eagles freshman Eva Schmidt went down with an injury and would not return. With the Wolves leading 14-12, Jardeen went on a five-point serving run to extend the Wolves lead to 18-12.

Stephenson scored four of the next five points to cut the deficit to three but the Wolves ended the set with a five-point scoring run by junior Blake Polfus-Coleman.
