COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Attorney General's office is asking to participate in an upcoming Ohio Supreme Court hearing for a Youngstown murder case.
According to a motion filed Wednesday, Attorney General Dave Yost’s office wants to share the allotted argument time with the appellant in the case of State of Ohio v. Lavontae Knight . Oral arguments are scheduled for Dec. 10.
Yost's office filed the motion as an "amicus curiae," which means "friend of the court." The motion states that the appellant, the state of Ohio, has agreed to the request.
Lavontae Knight was sentenced to life in prison in 2022 for the 2018 shooting death of Trevice Harris. A woman who was also shot survived and identified Knight as the gunman.
