Florida's statewide elected officials and others in politics reacted to the Sept. 10 shooting of conservative influencer and part-time Florida resident Charlie Kirk during an event at a Utah university.

Many took to social media to share concerns and condolences upon first learning of the shooting. By late afternoon, news organizations and President Donald Trump were saying Kirk had died.

"No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie," Trump posted on his Truth Social account. "He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"
