SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Dozens gathered at the California State Capitol on Wednesday for a vigil honoring Charlie Kirk, calling for unity and an end to political violence in America.

Organizers described the event as a prayer gathering, with attendees holding American flags and remembering Kirk's life. The vigil featured moments of silence, prayers, and songs, with some participants visibly emotional over Kirk's death.

"Oftentimes, we find ourselves in dark times, especially in today's America. And I think that the nation has typically been broken. And so we try to be that light in this darkness to ensure that we can at least solve these issues and come together," said one attendee, Nick Busse. "Like Charlie Kirk said, if you disagree with me, come to the front."
