GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — A 46-year-old actor from Port Republic was arrested Thursday after allegedly shooting a woman in the face during a road rage incident that caused Stockton University’s Galloway campus to be put under a shelter-in-place order for three hours.

Ernest Heinz was charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Officers responded to a call for a shooting near Jimmie Leeds Road and Redwood Avenue at 12:52 p.m. The intersection is across from the main entrance to the school.
