AUBURN — When Auburn football squares off with South Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 13, ( 11:45 a.m. CT, SECN ) the Tigers will knock out a marginal achievement, playing a new FBS opponent for the first time ever.
After going against the Jaguars , Auburn will have just 43 FBS programs it has yet to play in its 133-year history. It's also notable because South Alabama was one of two in-state programs the Tigers had yet to play.
When Saturday comes to pass, the only Division I program in the state of Alabama that Auburn won't have played will be Troy, meaning the Tigers have faced Alabama, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Jacksonville State, Samford and UAB at least once.
